Is it normal to feel smarter than everyone?

Ok I'm not talking about "booksmarts".
Many people are light years ahead of me in math, facts, figures, etc...
However, in the case of human interest, perception and being keen...I sometimes feel so alone. People can be soooo blind to things. I read body language, expressions and cues and can figure people out easily. I'm rarely fooled. And sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in the twilight zone. I'm not concieted or vain...but I do feel I see more than most people. Does anyone else feel like this?

There are people who are more perceptive than others. My husband is not able to read facial expressions or body language. My mother believes anything anyone tells her. My sister cannot make any decision on her own. It is mindboggling to me.

There's no definitive way to define intelligence But i understand you completely. I also feel that it's because i have a natural ability to understand and relate to my surroundings.

I've met others like you who are hypernaturally sensitive. You're special but not alone. Most people in this world either don't got time to think or don't have the education to make their thoughts count.

Quick question, how old are you?

Most people go through a period of hubris/delusion of grandeur/megalomania during their teens. I thought exactly like you when I was 15-19 or so, thankfully it passed and I realized that there's nothing special about me. Well, nothing extraordinary anyway ;)

Then again there could be something to it, people obviously differ in cognitive ability so you might just be quicker/smarter or more "perceptive" than the majority. If so, congratulations!

everyone thinks the same this way. "harrumph i think im special amongst humanity which gives me the self esteem to be successful and pass on my genes" these arent your thoughts, they are natures. we are controlled by nature.

There are many kinds of intelligence and in no way is intellect solely related to an intense education.

I know what you mean. I'm fairly average in terms of book smarts, but I feel like I have a lot more common sense and intuition than most people. I can solve many problems and come up with simple but effective solutions faster than a lot of people.I think it's more based on your powers of observation than your intelligence. Not that you're not smart, I just think it's more of a connection to humanity and your ability to rationalize. I always pick up on cues faster than anyone else I know and I can read people like books. Because of this, I'm not at all naive and like you, not fooled very easily, although I still always want to see the best in most people. I don't know how else to describe it other than I feel like I have a natural ability to relate to my surroundings.

I feel most aligned with the comments above (Jen118584) to the point that im sure what i write will resonate more with the above than most. I am by no means book smart, if i took an iq test would be above the majority but by no means at all the smartest man. I feel i, with enough info 100% know what peoples real intentions are by some how knowing what they are afraid to show or are hiding about them selves. I feel most man kind are good at heart and most "bad people" come across as bad people because of a hidden fear or self consciousnesses which could result in negative judgement by peers. With this ive found i can usually get a happy result from most hostile situations between people by internally identifying peoples hidden concerns and nullifying those unspoken and hidden concerns within a solution hidden inside a solution to the problem they portray to have. I have often made myself look a fool to keep the status-quo in a group environment where otherwise would have gone "tits up".
This is either a severely underutilized gift that i feel is wasted, or one extremely egotistical 29 year old having a half drunken rant.
        Thoughts?

I don't think it's normal but I feel the same way. Some may call it Narcissism but I believe I am very smart. Not book smart but what you say. It seems I am so smart in that area that no one else is on my level. I don't look down at people, I care a lot about people. Which is a rare characteristic in a person. I care about complete strangers and I'm very considerate. Sometimes my mind wanders and I think deep about life.. eventually things click and make sense and I believe I'm a genius and that I'm some kind of 'God'. I know it sounds ridiculous but I was also high when thinking this. But I don't doubt myself when it comes to this. I'm very smart when it comes to this and I'm on your side. But no, you're not normal. You have a gift.

I don't think that makes you smarter than anyone else just very intuitive. I feel like I can read someone's personality before I even get to know them. It's like I know there intentions. Most of the time I'm right. It's good so that you can know the type of people you should avoid.

Most people would call this a delusion of grandeur but i couldnt really say because the concept of gradeur is god, which is stupid and used by psychiatry that dont understand this constitution of your mind, ive felt like this since i was about 13 im now 20 and i hate everybody it has got so bad i feel like i know what people are going to say or do without even looking at them, how bad is that lol but the most thing is not to think of it to much as you may become very passive aggressive taking information in and doing nothing with it for example you can become so bad you feel you could have sussed out the meaning beyond exsistance.

    No.
You actually sound like someone who is of average intellect who likes to pretend they're better than the actually smart people through "perception".

Normal, I feel the same way. I love being able to read people so easily. Its helped me make tons of friends throughout my life, and excel in school. Maybe it's just awareness?
