Is it normal to feel sick after smelling smoke?

My father is a smoker. When ever he smokes, he always closes the door on his room. My mum is inside too, I love my mum, and she says that second hand smokers have more chances of getting cancer. I don't want her to have cancer! I love her! To me, if I smell smoke, just a bit, I feel like puking, so I always close my room door and stay in my room but also at the same time, I am very very very worried about her and me.

Tell him to stop being so damn selfish and smoke outside. I didn't know people still smoked inside these days.

Smoking indoors when non-smokers are around is disrespectful. Not to mention the smell lingers around for a while. All the smokers I know go outside to smoke.

Second hand smoke is bad. She should go with first hand, it is safer.

I'd be far more worried about the thousands of second hand, airborne toxic pollutants, which many large city residents breathe in, all day, day after day, year after year.

    Seldom heard fact #216 - 100% of non-smokers die.

My older brother used to smoke for years, and still does every now and then. I never really minded it, but that's only because he always smoked outside, not in the house where the smoke couldn't escape.
If you're worried, why not try telling your mom or dad about how his smoking effects you?
Or hintingly buy him an ash tray, and put it outside.
