Is it normal to feel sad even when i'm listening to happy music.

Okay, so when im at home i start listening to paramore. I love the songs and after i listen to all of them a few times, I get all depressed for some reason. Its bringing my family down. My parents are trying to make me have a better attitude whats wrong with me?

  • That's soo true. I think listening to a happy song when you're sad actually makes you feel sadder... because you're jealous that they're happy & you're not. Good way to think about it :)

    Well, either you are actually just sad/depressed, in which case happy music could make you feel like your missing something.

    But what kind of happy? a really fast song always picks me up, what I would consider happy, regardless of the message, but slower sweet ones really kill me inside.

    I am the same way. Happy songs bring me down.
    I always thought if I were to hang myself I would have the hamster dance playing in the background.
    One of the most depressing songs in the world has to be, Dont Worry, Be Happy. I am not sure why I feel that way.

    If you're listening to happy music and it's not influencing you then it must be because there's something in your life that's causing you to be sad.

    Sometimes, I won't be sad at all, and a happy song comes on, and somehow I get sad. I have no idea what's up with that, and it doesn't happen much, but...
