Is it normal to feel retrospective happiness?

Is it normal to not feel any feelings of happiness or anger at the time of feeling them. For instance, I never feel happy at the time of something happening, but when I think back from about a year or so later I feel like it was a happy time. I guess you could say I can't feel emotions about something unless the event has passed.

Experiencing feeling and emotions are very natural and are basic human characteristics. Not being able to relate how your feeling to a particular event or situation doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t feel anything. In my opinion it could mean that you have not yet acknowledged how you really feel about the event in question or perhaps you are suppressing your feelings. I would take a moment to think about the significance of the event, how the people around you reacted; were they happy or sad at this time. Being able to ask yourself what did you want or expect to happen? And if things went wrong would your reaction have been different? .....for me feelings are such a natural thing and it’s important to be aware of how we feel in different situations as that’s what tells us we have our own mind etc.....may sound a bit silly but also learning to associate the experience of different feeling might be an idean.....hope it helps! x
