Is it normal to feel really worried when someone isn't home?

well my boyfriend has had a history of staying out all night and getting drunk and passing out in a park, and partying and not calling me and me having no idea where he is... but that was a while ago and he wouldn't do that now. but is it normal to feel really worried when he's out with his friends? like to the point where I can't sleep at all? I completely trust him but I just get worried about what kind of shit him and his buddies might get into :(
