Is it normal to feel really sad about your hair colour

well a few years ago when I was about 16, my hair was a nice light and dark blonde mix, kind of dark blonde with nice high lighted streaks. Now I am 18 and it seems all one color, like I'm still happy with my blonde dark hair but when I compare it to younger photos of me I feel disheartened and I feel like my hairs dull and ugly, when lots of people love my hair, I know what it used to be like and feel like I could have kept it that way, obviously I couldn't it just happened naturally,so I'm wondering do other people feel the way I feel about my hair (girls mainly) or is it just me??? like I know I can dye it or whateverr but then I would feel fake so I wouldn't do that.

Just dye it if it bothers you that much. Plenty of people highlight/dye their hair when they're not happy with it.

Normal, I feel the same way towards hair coloring. But it's even more fake if you have a color that you don't like and you're just living your life pretending that that is you and you are comfortable with looking a way that you don't want to look.
    Just saying.

Why don't you dye them or get highlights. Hair colours can change. Certain factors like the sun can play a part. Sometimes blondes can turn to a light or dark brown colour. With red heads, the sun can either brighten their hair or darken it. I had a friend who was a redhead and originally his hair was a fire red, then the sun turned it to a brownish red. It's odd, but it happens.

Blond hair gets darker as you age. It starts before puberty.

My hairs a dark chestnut colour, to me it looks almost greyish :S People have even told me my hair would look better dyed. I have dyed it a nicer brown before, but when the roots come in, it just accents how dull my real colour is. But hey, that's life, right?

    Really?

Think about the people who suffer from alopecia or premature baldness, think how much worse it COULD be. At least you have hair to dye.

I don't think it's normal to feel really said about your hair colour if all that has happened is it's slightly more monotone than it once was. I think it's quite sad to be so preoccupied over such a minute cosmetic feature that nobody else has an issue with.

I know you are totally right, and this is a thing on my mind every now and then like sometimes i'm feeling really great and love my hair, other days I just am not happy with it but HEY i am deffinatly one of those type girls that "over stresses" about look, just have gotten a bit more fussy as I'm older now.

My hair was like that too. Its so dark, dull and ugly now so I bleached it all about 9 years ago when it was pretty short and continue doing the roots every month or two. Not suggesting you do that, but throw some highlights in there. Back in my day, people put lemon juice on certain spots before going in the sun. Don't know if that ever did anything :/

I looked it up and you could comb olive oil thru your hair and go in the sun, it may take a few washes to get it all out but it leaves hair soft, for blondes use one part lemon juice with 3 parts water in a spray bottle, or for brunettes use chamomile tea. Brew it, let it cool and rince your clean hair in it and go sit in the sun. :)

I think it just helped add lightness, like highlights when the sun was on it for a while. I'll check into that :)

There is nothing wrong with coloring your hair! It isn't fake if the color is an expression of yourself and you don't die it just to fit in! I have had every color of hair, ranging from black, blonde, bright green, pink, purple, red, and blue. If you miss your streaks highlight them back in!

Its fun playing with those colors. I've had pretty much every color too, except brown. I even went all pink when I turned 30. A wee 'midlife' crisis. It slowly washes out, so no biggie :) but I'm also my own boss, so I didn't have to worry about the man giving me crap about it.
