Is it normal to *feel* racist, homophobic, transphobic

If you knew me, you’d never think I’m any of these things, because I know those feelings are ridiculous and I don’t show them.
I still feel them. I know they’re wrong and I want to stop feeling them but I can’t, and I still sometimes feel uncomfortable around these types of people, especially around transgender people. Is that normal?

It's primitive human nature to have a negative disposition toward people that are different. Tribal instincts and all that.

I am the exact same as you, I don't know why, i feel like i'm sort of scared by these people because I really don't want to offend them

It’s not your fault that you think that way and if you feel guilty for the thoughts and treat everyone with respect you’re not a bad person. It’s the actions that count. It’s just human nature to be afraid or uncomfortable around people who are different even though we should strive to treat them and think of them as the same as anyone.

I can understand being afraid of scary people, but that isn't dependant on any one thing. Most people have an aversion to anything different, don't let that make you racist though.

It doesn’t. I don’t let the feelings change how I act

It is unfortunately very normal. Society has programmed so many to feel a certain way about certain people, no matter how wrong it is. And while it is difficult to get over these feelings you have to know that it IS possible. Back during the post-1960s civil rights era, many felt a very similar discomfort with African Americans. However they have all but overcome that today.
The only way to fight prejudice is to fight these feelings within ourselves. So that our children, and our children's children will harbor no such feelings.

    It's called
' go along, to get along. '
Do you think blacks really thought
' yessa massa ' each time they said it?
    Don't get me started.
But, I'll say whatever I need to.
That said, I use what power I have.
    Every chance I get.

I think it depends. I've heard multiple people being disgusted by trans people. I'm not,
but I can understand that when a middle aged to older man dresses as a woman, it can look quite eery.

This is very common. What's most important is that you recognize these feelings within yourself before they manifest themselves in actions. I don't trust anyone who says they've never had racist, transphobic, or sexist thoughts. At the end of the day those people really do, and they're inability to recognize it makes them actually racist ect.
