Is it normal to feel loss when seeing people die in your dreams?

Well, a few days ago I had dream where an EF5 tornado was in the middle of LA (dream physics). In my dream, I saw people lifted in to the tornado and debris decimate people on the ground. Although I didn't know the people in my dreams, when I woke I was despondent and have been as such since. IIN?

Dreams can have serious emotional impact. Normally this feeling doesn't last for long though. Dreams seem to be categorized in our brain in such a way we forget them very quickly. And thats a good thing. I suppose if you are a person who remembers dreams very vividly these effects can last longer. There's a lot of methods to remembers dreams better, but i'm not a fan of that. Some dreams are meant to be forgotten quickly.
As someone who grew up and still has alot of night terrors/bad dreams I am very happy I never remember my dreams for long. I believe dreams work out some kind of anxiety from your daily life, but that doesnt mean its really helpfull to remember them. No matter what the dream is about, the subjects don't really matter. Just the emotions. And you shouldnt be encumberred by those emotions during the day.

I remember a dream where I was a fighter pilot in some airplain and made a mistake which meant one of my team fighter pilot died. I felt this emotion as real as I would lose a member of my close family, I woke up crying...and oh the guilt, because I was the one making a mistake. The subject doesnt matter...i'm not in a position where I drive/fly any kind of vehicle that could impact peoples lives or anything. But the emotion was very real. Just working out some vaguely connected real life anxiety...and no reason to think to long about that specific dream (yet for some reason this example has stayed with me...sure am glad the average of 3 nights a week of bad dreams don't really stay with me. I just remember them when I wake up and I feel the effects of residual emotions. But by the time I'm having breakfast I don't really pay them no mind anymore)

What's been going on in your life, to trigger such a dream? Death in a dream means a finality, an end to something. Tome, the tornado is a female with tremendous influence that has upset my whole world, and even caused me to loose friends. Hope this helps.

It's normal to feel strongly about your dreams and even to let them color the rest of your day. It's a little unusual to still feel those strong feelings days later, but it's probably still not abnormal.

I've had some horrific dreams, some of which have left me sobbing as I woke up and pretty much wrecked my whole day, so I can empathize.

Why not channel those emotions into a short story or a painting? Sometimes it helps to let your conscious mind work on the same stuff your subconscious mind was working out.
