Is it normal to feel like you're losing everything

It hasn't hit me yet until now since things just add up making feel as if I'm losing a lot. About 8 months ago, I stopped talking to my dad as much and distant because of his second marriage

6 months later, could say there's been a change since I turned 21 and I've been drinking a lot since then. For that reason I feel I've lost a lot of respect, control for myself and have grown apathetic.

I decided to join the military 3 months ago, did that and seems people have not wanted to talk to me anymore because of that. This is where I lose people I love, friends etc.

I don't know if I'm exaggerating a bit, but I feel enlisting just made it worse. I've grown more distant with my family and friends, especially since I'm gone a lot of times due to work or out drinking. Is it normal for me to feel this way? Anyone else have similar experience or learned to cope with this feeling?

Don't lose your dad. Make the effort, even though he's married to a ____________. It should be him that does it, but maybe his situation with her prevents him somehow.

Perhaps your friends and family feel that you have alienated yourself from them on purpose and they are giving you space.

Make the effort or live to regret it one day.

  • That's...kinda rude of them... You're serving your country that's a HUGE honor. I don't know.. But if I was part of your family or friends I'd feel very honored.
