Is it normal to feel like i'm not really alive?

I sometimes am just doing everyday things and suddenly I feel as if I am just observing everyone else, and I am not living or actually there. Like I am watching a movie. And when I actually speak, I feel like I am interrupting. Also, I make decisions that I wouldn't usually make when I was in 'reality'. No, I don't drink or do drugs (that I'm not supposed to take, anyway). Does anyone else feel like this ever?

I once had an out of body experience when i came upon a peyote cactus so i know EXACTLY how you feel! It's a bit freaky and can be experienced even when you are not under the influence of drugs. My theory is you are awakened for a moment to your own mortality, in other words, things like being tired or slightly detached from the bustle of a current action has subconsciously made you realize you are a molecule just like everything else on this god damn plant. It's absolutely normal.

I really like the way you expressed your beliefs about this dissociative issue, "...you are awakened for a moment to your own mortality,..."

Like standing behind a looking glass looking out? I have had this feeling before. I use to be worse as a young child. I felt so disconnected with the world.

While I was taking the generic for Celexa I had this feel often. I'm not taking anything now but if I try to go to the store or anyplace with other people that will talk to me it happens.

It's detachment and usually results from a traumatic childhood, You need to work on it before it gets worse. Find fun things to do, and people to talk to with common interests. If you need help, see a therapist.

I feel like too. Just kind of numb.. I feel like everyone hates me even my family. I don't know what to do anymore.

I'm the same, it can be a bit scary actually! Like you don't know what's real. Apparently this sort of disassociation and detachment is quite common, something to do with our generation spending so much time observing (watching a lot of TV, computer, even reading is observing someone else's life)..

Is that the question? And if so, if so, who answers?

I'm not sure if it's the same sort of thing, but I occasionally experience something like that.

I'll be talking with a group of people and suddenly feel a bit light headed. Then It's as if I've jumped out of my head and am just watching; like you mentioned. And when I talk it feels like it's not actually from me; just watching as an observer.

It's pretty hard to explain and I've probably done a bad job haha

Well that's just the problem. Everyday things. The mundane, the routine. Yes its easy to feel a sense of detachment, you have to mix it up a bit. Do things that invigorate your soul

When I do abnormal things I feel "unalive" also so either way it wouldn't work

Either way you need to achieve a sense of connectivity in your life, only you know the things that make you feel most alive.
