Is it normal to feel like i'm neglecting them?

So, I have lots of books. A lot of them, which I cannot fit in my bookshelves anymore so I keep them in boxes under my bed. The problem is that I don't like my books in boxes under my bed. I know they're only books, but I feel like I'm being unfair to the books that are under my bed. They deserve to be admired in a bookshelf. I feel like a racist or a mother who mistreats her children. I can't fit another bookshelf in my room, but I keep feeling bad for my books. Is this normal?

Put a bookshelf in another room and put the books there.

Wow! Just when I thought I've read all the weird posts on this site. Yikes.

I feel like I'm neglecting my writings when I stop working on them for a while :(

I feel the same way. Unfortunately, there's no more room in my abode to buy another book shelf. There's about 6 or 7 bookshelves here and two aren't even used to house books!
In my room, I have no proper place to put them so I place them on pieces of furniture and I sleep with a lucky few. It's a shame that they can't experience all the fun things living on a bookshelf has to offer, but they must learn to deal with it for the time being.

It's not normal for me but then again I've read like 5 books in my life.

I don't know if this is normal, but I'm the same way. Actually, as a kid, I thought of a lot of different objects as having feelings and personalities. Even though I knew, intellectually, that they didn't, I was very concerned with the possibility that the objects around me might be sad. I remember hugging my parents' old Subaru station wagon that they were getting rid of and telling it that it would be ok. As an adult, I don't feel nearly as intensely this way, and I'm no longer anxious about it, but I do sometimes feel a little sad for balloons that get let go and houses that get abandoned. I don't express it seriously or take it into account when it comes to important decisions, though, because I know it's irrational.

Strangely enough, I am the same.... I thought I was strange. But I tend to treat good literature with respect lol. Kinda like an old friend.

The only books I still have in boxes are children's books. Shelf space is hard to come by in my house. About a year ago I did a big purge and donated some of them. It was hard letting go but it was sad to see them unused and collecting dust.

When I moved, bookshelves are the first things I bought because my books were in boxes. Two years on, I've still got things in boxes. But not books. I feel the same as you.
