Is it normal to feel like i'm losing my mind after using meth?

i tried meth for the first time two days ago and had some more today. I can't sleep and I feel like I'm losing my mind. I really hate this drug. I'm never going to use it again.
I feel really scared for all sorts of reasons. Please help. Am I psychotic? This is terrifying and interminable. I feel like I'm going insane. I'm too far inside my head and can't get out.

I am a recovering meth addict and yes, what you are experiencing is completely normal. Meth is an extremely powerful psychoactive substance. Anything that you feel under its influence, no matter how insane it seems, is a direct result of putting what I have found to be one of the hardest drugs if not the hardest drug of all time into your system. Even being up for a couple days, let alone four or five (I suggest you put the pipe down before you get to day 4, that's when shit gets really crazy) can induce psychosis as well as a plethora of other nasty things, so it is no surprise you have found yourself in this predicament. You are going to be okay. Remember, you're high on motherfuckin crystal meth, it's just the drugs and the sleep deprivation. Do you experience psychosis when you are sober? If so, that is something you should definitely deal with and crystal meth is a drug you should definitely not be dealing with (not that you should do it again otherwise). If not, then you're just really really high and once you come down and get some sleep, you will return to your normal state (besides the new knowledge gained from a new drug experience, of course). I do highly recommend you not delve into that drug any further and I say this not because I think doing crystal meth is morally wrong or anything to that effect but because the agony it brings, which you have obviously started to feel, is something no human being deserves to feel. Eat some food with calories, something that tastes particularly good to you when you're sober - doesn't have to be nutritious - bread or ramen are a couple options and if you find yourself unable to chew, smoothies - and when your stomach is properly coated, slowly drink as much of a glass of water as you can stomach, and then try to wind down. Marijuana was always extremely helpful for me during a comedown. I'm not sure how long ago you posted this, but I hope this helps. Hang in there man.

Well I'm trying to rebuild my life after an 8 year addiction to the stuff. Pull out while you still can.

Thanks. Almost a year now since my last relapse. It's been hard but so worth it.

Where I live meth use is pretty common. From what I have seen different people have different reactions and feeling like you are losing your mind isn't unusual. I've seen that happen to a few people.

    >Am I psychotic?

I have experienced stimulant psychosis but being psychotic on a stimulant does really mean anything, after you stop using and get some sleep the psychosis goes away.

What I do want to say is try to stop using it, for some reason those it seems to make the most unhappy are the ones that get addicted the easiest. It's weird you would think the people that loved it are the ones that would keep on using but honestly it always seems to be the other way, people like you that don't enjoy the feeling seem to be the people most drawn to using it again and again.

Don't most people feel like that just in their normal lives? If you have to take drugs to get to that stage, you're doing well.

    I suggest you seek therapy.

Most hard drugs will not ease your mental anguish - if you have mental health issues, there are probably support networks available to you for people going through whatever it is you're going through.

  • Ive known quite a few people to be addicted to meth and its bad news. I don't see why anyone wants to do that stuff. Stay away from it.

Imagine all your insecurities being washed away in a feeling of supreme confidence. Imagine knowing that you are now the life of every party and that everything that you do is amazing. You are now one of the best people on earth and every boring mundane thing in your life seems to go by in the blink of an eye. So that you are only living the good times.

That is why people want to do the stuff.

Of course you will then stop sleeping, develop psychotic breaks with reality and have paranoid delusions. Yet it isn't hard to see why people become so attracted to the illusion of meth use.

Well put. From all the high-horse opinions, you'd nearly forget why people take these things in the first place.

Yeah, but it's all a lie cause crystal meth only just makes you high.

Well it is definitely a lie but it isn't the high people come back for, it's the way it makes them feel about themselves. To the full blown addict they generally aren't even having a good time in my experience but they get to have a strong self esteem for hours which is what they are truly addicted to.

Yep, sounds about normal. If you are going to mess about with one of the most dangerous drugs out there, you'd better be prepared for the consequences.
I personally have known more people who have literally lost their minds from meth, that all other drugs combined including LSD25. With meth, it's definitely "you play, you pay", permanently.

Yes, it is normal. For someone who did meth that is. Are you psychotic? It is possible, but there's a good chance your just having a panic attack. If you are mildly psychotic from the meth at the moment, you will recover from it if you stop doing meth. Meth really, really messes you up physically and does cause psychosis, but the psychosis goes away a few weeks after someone gets off of meth. When you are able to, SLEEP IT OFF. When you wake up you will probably feel even worse than you do now but bear with it and get off of the garbage. Even if it is just a panic attack, stop taking meth. It can wreck your health, make you loose teeth, etc. Ultimately, it can kill you so stop NOW!

That's what meth does to you. So, for your own health, please, don't take meth anymore.

Marijuana, benzos or even doxylamine (restavit - mersyndol) anything to relax and sleep. SLEEP.

You probably are not going psychotic, however, the effects of meth can often be felt for days.

Don't try it again, detox, fruits, veggies, water and sleep. Stop hanging out with whoever gave it to you or convinced you that it was a good idea. Meth is never a good idea.

My man did meth for 5 years and is now having to drop some serious paper on getting teeth implants because they rotted his teeth. My Aunt did it for 7 years and not only does she have to wear a mouthful of false teeth, but she is 48 and looks like she is 70. She has not done meth in over 20 years and it aged her considerably, even now.

There is no good reason to do meth. If you want to fuck with Amphetamines, go see a shrink, tell them you have ADD and get some Adderal. Don't fuck with meth.

Seek some professional help! And why try meth in the first place! Drugs just fuck up your life. And for what? Several minutes of being in funland? Not worth it man.
Seek some help and stay clean.

Um, no offense, but why on earth would you even try meth? Were you already under the influence of something else at the time, or do you just make really bad decisions? Yes, that's normal. That's kind of the point of meth, actually. Don't ever do it again. Bad, bad idea.
