Is it normal to feel ignored when...

Is it normal to feel ignored when your best friend, whose going to college hundreds of miles away from your hometown, can't seem to find the time to message you or reply back to your messages yet she can easily find time to stay in touch with her other friends from your hometown? I have this best friend named Jessica and we she went away to college about two years ago. We've always been really close. Our favorite form of communication is facebook and texting because phone calls get too expensive. we used to fb message or text each other everyday to stay close and connected but the last few months, i'm lucky if she even messages or texts me once a month. on top of that, she never really replies to my messages either until i send her a bunch at once to get her attention. yet, somehow, she finds the time to stay in contact with her other friends back here at home. I know this because i've talked to them about it. she still messages them everyday and i really feel ignored and hurt by this. then, when she finally decides to reply or when she comes home and wants to see me, she acts like i'm the best friend she ever had. I know i should enjoy her while she's hear or while she's talking to me but sometimes it just makes me mad because i feel like she's just using me as a fall back friend. like when she get's tired of her other friends, then she'll come back around again. then she'll start ignoring me again. It's a cycle that never ends and i'm getting tired of acting like everything is fine and nothing is wrong everytime that she decides to walk back into my life for lack of better words. Is this normal or an I just clingy?

She's being a bad friend and yeah it's normal to get tired of being someone's second choice.

Yeah. Being someone's second choice is hurtful and annoying. I think this friendship has seen it's better days and it's ran its' course unfortunately. That tears me up inside but that's life I guess.

I know you're right but I wish you weren't. Friendships fading is never a fun thing to go through.

It's no fun, but new ones pop up when you don't expect it. Hang in there.

What instrument did you march with Bandgeek? I played flute for marching and concert season.

I was in the drum line during marching season and I was in Percussion during concert season. I have a lot of friends that played flute though. I'm a Bandgeek at heart :) and yeah, I know other friends will pop up but until then I guess i'll just have to figure out how to let this one go.

This is life. People grow up, change, new friendships form, old friendships fade. Don't force it.
