Is it normal to feel i shouldn't be human?

Ever since I can remember, I've liked animals. I thought they were the coolest. They always had something they could do that a human being simply couldn't. I am a very athletic person, the kind of guy that can usually pick up on a game very quickly and I've been told I move like no other person. (Jumping, speed, acrobatics wise.) I've had friends even compare me to animals like a monkey, wolf, and snake. (These are just a FEW examples.) Every time I think about this, I become more and more convinced that my life should have been as an animal rather than a human. Not like a bug or insect, but like a dog/wolf, or some sort of animal that isn't a usual household pet.

I personally think that this is quite normal. It is just that because human beings have lost sight of the bigger picture that things like this seem strange.
Consider if you will, the Navajo, or the Australian Aborigines. Each member of society had a name based around that persons natural qualities and also was closely tied in with another of gods creatures or animals .
It is only recently that humans have lost this deep connection with the earth and its entities.

So does this mean I am more in tune with nature than others? I'm sorry it sounds cheesy but that's the only way I can think of wording it correctly and get the whole picture. Also, I am not of Navajo or Aboriginal descent at least that I am aware of, does that mean I can still feel this way? Or do their beliefs count towards all humans and not just those within their tribes?

Of course you can feel connected to nature without being a Native. We are a part of nature. This feeling is instinctual and many ignore it. If you feel akin to wolves, study their behavior patterns and learn from them. How do you integrate this knowledge into everyday life? Every animal has a lesson to share with us. They hold wisdom that can help us get through some of the more difficult aspects of life.

          Thanks howami, OP zactly this^^^
It also has very little to do with belonging to their culture or tribe. But everything to do with humans as a whole. Have been conditioned to be disconnected with nature.

I would say it is normal.
I, personally, find being human very unique and find humans to be a distinguished animal however, I do wish that I had more feline characteristics. There is something really... sexy and sleek about felines that I find irresistible.

these qualities of yours are not to discourage you from being human but you should realize that you are special and different and you can use these qualities to amaze people and to collect praise....
also animals don't have those of many things which humans have ... why live your life uselessly like them, just take advantage of them.... :)

  • How can you say you want to be something when you can't possibly understand what it's like to be that thing?

Animals, like rocks and trees, are things hardly even aware of their own reality; there is no spark of genius behind the eyes of an animal. Only vicious stupidity and instinct.

Perhaps that is why I want to be something I can't understand, to learn and become knowledgable of such things.

Actually many animals have some degree of intelligence. You make it sound like animals don't deserve to live, have no emotion, are blood thirsty killers, and aren't aware of their surroundings. Animals are very much so aware of their surroundings and environments, and humanity has drawn a great of inspiration from nature and animals themselves in the way they behave and the way they are built. Even one of the most basic living things: plants respond to a change in their environment by adapting or eliminating competition, as does every other living thing in this world. A rock is understandable, it is not alive and therefore cannot feel and cannot express emotion, but plants and animals? They learn and adapt to survive, yes it is instinct to survive but sometimes that is not the whole explanation as to what they do or why they do what they do. Haven't you ever had a dog? If he/she hasn't seen you for a long time, they become overjoyed at the first sight of seeing you again, they jump all over you and their tails won't stop wagging.

Animals are often the first to respond in a change of environment, they sense it before humans can. Tsunami's and earthquakes are very good proof of this. The animals sense what is about to come and prepare for it. Humans have based this knowledge for their own uses to prepare for such natural disasters.

I'm sorry to reject everything you are saying. I just strongly disagree with your statement/beliefs on animals and living things.

I've always thought I am too sensitive to be human. Like the world I come from must be much kinder, because on this world people seem very cruel to me; therefore I feel like an alien.

I feel different from other humans (though I know I am not) and that doesn't seem much different to me than identifying with a wolf more than a human.

I think it's normal for some people, and you sound like one of those people, like myself.

Maybe you were a wolf in a past life or had some kind of dealings with wolfs in your ancestry. I don't know for sure, but I know almost anything is possible.

Of course you do if you were somebodys pet you get your food you get your litter tray/cage/kennel/etc and don't have to worry about daily life.

But watch out for that... oops never mind.

I love animals. They're the best. I'd own a zoo if I could.

I think it's normal. We may all look incredibly different now but our genomes are very close to the same, there isn't really a massive genetic difference between ourselves and other creatures. We were all one cell in the sea in the beginning right? :P

I personally feel connected with many animals. I have an odd obsession/affinity with the gabriel hounds of Welsh mythology. Panthers, ferrets, and spiders are others. :)
