Is it normal to feel guilty for calling in to work sick?

Is it normal that I always feel guilty when I call in to work sick, even though I've never called in without being legitimately sick? My doctor diagnosed me with a kidney infection today and wrote my manager a note that I can't work for 3 days, but for some reason I feel really guilty. Like my manager won't believe I'm sick or something. Which is stupid, since I have the note from my doctor.

    You shouldn't feel guilty at all. That may make your condition worse.

    You lazy son of a bitch. I lost my arms and legs in 'Nam and it took months for them to grow back fully. I still went into work every day, even though I thought the ringing phone was a gook war cry. I've seen some stuff, man.

    pfff. Silly. I would have loved to skip work this morning just because its friggin hot out. Do you even know how dirty and grossified I am right now!?!?! I just discovered mulch in my pocket.
