Is it normal to feel exhausted 24/7?

Growing up, I was always tired throughout the day. It didn't matter what time it was, I could lay down and sleep at any time. I could fall asleep in bed, standing up, at a concert, etc. Three years ago I fell asleep behind the wheel and totaled my car. I was driving 55 mph and hit the back end of a stopped car. Two days ago, I fell asleep at the wheel again (or so I think... I'm not really sure if I fell asleep or was knocked out?). I crossed oncoming traffic at an intersection and went up onto the sidewalk taking out a light post.

No matter how much caffeine I drink, it does absolutely nothing for me. And I have tried to not drink caffeine and I basically have to hold my eyes open, not to mention I am a super crab.

I am an active person. I go to the gym five nights a week. I am always trying to clean the house every day. I have about a four hour window every day where I am "okay" and that is from about 6:00 pm - 10:00 or 11:00 pm. This is where I fit the gym and household cleaning in. BUT, this does not help me for getting to work and getting through the work day. I am constantly nodding off at my desk, even being woken up by my head hitting the desk.

I have no health insurance so going to the doctor is out of the question at the moment. Does anyone have any idea what this could be and if it can be treated? I hate feeling like I have to fight to stay awake. It is not convenient and it makes me feel lazy when all I ever want to do is sleep.

You may have chronic fatigue syndrome. I suffer from lethargy on a daily basis. How are you sleeping? My sleep is very interrupted and intermittent so that's what I've put mine down to.

Thank you for your comments! I actually just found out thay I'm pregnant. That doesnt explain the last 26 years but it definitely explains the huge increase in drowsiness.

Once I fall asleep, I am out for the count. I can sleep for hours. If I didn't have anything to do, I could stay in bed for days because I am just too tired to move most of the time. Many days I will literally cry because I am so tired that I don't want to get up.

Maybe narcolepsy or similar sleep disturbance that leaves you sleepy during daytime. My other guess is chronic fatigue syndrome which does unfortunately exist and no you're not just being lazy...
