Is it normal to feel enraged while drawing?

I want to work with comic books since I was a kid, and thus I practice to get better at my drawings.
I don't know when this started happening but, while I'm drawing, I feel so angry and frustrated that I throw away without even finishing. Sometimes I break things around me until I stay calm and relieved.
This happens all the time I start to drawn, it doesn't matter the mood, if I'm happy or sad, I do it anyways.

What could be the cause for this weird behavior? What can I do to stop this uncontrollable rage?

I've been told before that anger is a secondary emotion, which means that when you are feeling angry it is because there is some other kind of emotion you are feeling, and your anger is coming from that emotion. I hope my wording makes some sense there, but what I think you should do first is identify what emotion is leading to your anger.

If you are feeling frustrated or impatient about your artistic abilities not being where you want them to be, try looking up some pictures on line to get some ideas on where in particular you do want to be, and then work towards getting to that stage.

If you are getting stressed or annoyed by crowds or noise or something along those lines, try blocking them out with music.

If the issue is something in your personal life that you can deal with but haven't, dealing with that could give you some relief. If you can't deal with it, accepting to yourself that you can't do anything about it may give some relief, and besides that all you can really do is try to distract yourself from the thoughts. I will suggest music for this, too.

I can't think of any other reasons you might be feeling angry, not because there aren't a bunch of others, but because I don't really relate to anger much. Regardless of what is causing the anger, I think doing short rough sketches and figure drawings could let you complete drawings before losing your temper. Taking frequent breaks and completing longer pictures over multiple drawing sessions would also be a good idea.

      Yes, your idea makes sense.
I've been going to therapy to work on this rage.
Since this post is a little bit old, this problem isn't so frequent like before nowadays.
I'm drawing more and, still suffering from depression and anxiety which makes me a little bit angry, it's not as bad as a year ago.

Sometimes when I see I'm taking too long on a sketch, I get frustrated, but then I try to relax and change the techniques to do faster and not worry about perfection. I think my biggest enemy is perfectionism, since I was taught to always be better than the majority by my parents. It's really stressful and frustrating when knowing that I knowledge this problem, and I still can't solve properly.

Try taking a drawing class. Public libraries usually offer workshops for free or very low cost. Also check local schools, many have casual-type courses for cheap. Some restaurants and craft stores even do this. Look at your local craigslist community section. At least two good things might happen here-1, you'll be around others so you'll probably control yourself better which might help with developing calmer drawing habits in general 2, you will learn some new techniques, might help you focus and finish a project. Maybe you'll even make a friend you can collaberate with.

I read about a lady who uses her own bodily fluids to paint pictures. She makes a lot of money selling them too. People will buy anything. Have you thought about putting your poop to good use? You can make a profit because pretentious rich yuppies would buy your poop paintings and comment about how deep the meanings are behind each piece.

This particular piece of work portrays the angst of the female spirit. Notice the violent watery splatters of brown and hints of red.

You can only poop for profit.

They buy it because it's something original and abnormal. If I made a picture of a wolf with parts of my hair of course it would sell, cause it's unusual and "special" to their eyes...

Man...there's no such things as free or cheap here. I live in Brazil...can you even imagine how hard it's to have money and pay for simple things here? I don't know if you saw on the news about the things were happening here, but a lot of us are suffering with the situation now, and I'm not a special case.
That's why I do everything through the internet. I don't have money to pay for drawing classes, and there's no such thing for free...

Anyways, thanks for tips. I know you did with good intentions. Please don't be offended if I was aggressive or rude.

Sorry for assuming...it's a bad habit us Americans have.

Hmm, I wonder if you could find a person or group to work with though. Surely there's somebody around there? I wonder if you could volunteer to help an art teacher/artist in exchange for classes? Or hey, try drawing in public like in a park.

Are you good at drawing? If you can draw reasonably well, maybe draw in public for donations. Or offer to draw up tattoos or other things for others as a sort of 'job' Put yourself in a position where you MUST finish a drawing and maybe you'll teach yourself how to get through it. Step out of your comfort zone a bit.

Good luck. You can do it.

It's not your fault. At least you guys have less problems and more freedom to access a variety of tools to work and have fun. It's two totally different realities.
To be an art teacher assistant, I should be in a university focused on "art". I still in the first year, and it's not even about that, it's about languages.
Well, I guess there's no other choice than study at home. I know enough to drawn things that anyone can at least relate, but I would never consider myself as a professional...
Maybe I should plan a daily routine to practice. I never had an specific day to drawn.
Anyway, thanks for all the advices! Have a nice day! ヽ(^Д^)ノ

You need to keep drawing even if you get angry, and as you progress with different drawing methods, perhaps your outlook will change and these outbursts will become less severe.

I've been doing this for 9 year. I changed my style so many times I'm sick of trying anymore. It has been a pain in the ass instead of a time to relax and enjoy...
I've tried to stay calm for a long time, but the only thing I hear is things from ignorant hypocritical people, saying it's not good enough and I should give up.
This makes me so enraged the only way to relieve the stress is through violent actions. I caused so much damage to my family, not only material damage and loss of money, but also emotional scarring.
There must be something to make me stop this compulsive anger!
I don't have money to pay a psychiatrist because were I live, everything is absurdly expensive, so I'm trying to do by myself, but it's hard when you have no one to land a hand...

Have you thought about trying to stick to one style while improving upon it? Have you seen any of Mark Crilley's videos?

I've saw a few videos of him before, and others artists too, but it didn't worked. It made me feel more frustrated than actually helping.
Some people don't understand that it's not all the artists that get motivation from watching others that are way better. Not all the minds works the same way.
