Is it normal to feel empathy for almost everything?

I often put myself into a kind of "counselor" position for my friends. I have many troubled ones. And I find, no matter what they tell me, I always end up finding some way to empathize with them.
I'm not at all bragging, it's literally what I do in order to help them, I just find it odd that I am able to do this.
I'm just curious as to what you all think.

I hate this. Every time i read a story about something that happened to a person, I can, I mean EVERY FUCKING TIME, I can put myself in their shoes and feel every emotion they felt. Say if I'm watching a person getting beheaded (I hate that I do that) I feel every emotion they felt before the act was performed on them. And it leaves me feeling SO drained for days. I wish I wasn't like this. And my mom thinks I'm emotionless.....SHE DON'T KNOW SHIT!

You go a lot deeper than I do. I admire that, actually. :) its not something I consider bad, though. Its something g I use often to help others. But I will admit, it gets applied to everything and it does become draining. But when that time comes, I turn to others who can sympathize/empathize with me. That way, it gets balanced. :)

My twin sister has this too because...well we're twins. And I empathize with her. But i do consider it to be something bad, a problem, because it just leaves me way too emotionally drained, which I can't afford that when I have school and stuff like that. Admire that? How so :)?

          That's awesome! You have a twin! :D
I admire that because people who can really feel others pain and such to a deep level, I see them as beautiful. :) and I can understand the dilema with keeping priorities straight with emotional drainage, I get that a lot too, especially recently. What I suggest is too maybe harden yourself a little bit. You know, just enough to still feel the feels, but not to completely drain yourself. I've learned over time to do that, and I know how to manage my school life and the moments where emotions are needed. Or, if you're religious, you can pray for peace after you start feeling the emotions. I know that's come in handy for me quite a few times. :)

Don't let them leave you feeling drained.

Of course. :) It has happened before, but I've learned to maintain it. :)

Empathy is nice. But occasionally, tough love works better.

I know. :) I show tough love every now and then. This mostly relates to issues that are first brought up to me. If tough love is needed, then I will give it. :)
