yes, alot of anxiety and anti-depressants can have a side effect of depression.. Go figure T_T lol.. sorry, it's not really a laughing matter, and I wish you the best of luck :D
I hope that the Xanax is prescribed by a doctor and it is normal, I'm on Fluoxetine, an anti-depressant and anti-anxiety drug and when I first began taking it, it seemed to hinder rather than help.
But give it time, keep taking your medication if you have been prescribed it and keep positive. For some reason, these kind of medications have side-effects including depression, anxiety and even suicidal thoughts.
As Ms.Caffinated said, go figure lol :)

So if your already depressed and were depressed before but feel depressed after taking Xanax or an anti depressant, you should contact the doctor that already gave you the pills?
If they're already depressed, feeling depressed isn't exactly going to be a big surprise.
Yeah I know that, it says the same crap on the side of my meds box. I just think it makes no sense that if a person is depressed to tell the doctor that already knows they are depressed that they feel depressed... How are you meant to differentiate between a chemical depression or a natural depression, when depressed?
Actually, after writing that it's no fucking wonder, I'm surprised we're all not crazy. ._.
I figured it meant a different kind of depression... such as stronger, or perhaps a scarier feeling to it.
Plus there's the addendum about suicidal thoughts. There's some medical thought that anti-depressants could actually encourage suicide. The idea is that the patient is originally too depressed to get the motivation to kill themselves... until they got on medication, whereupon they may gain enough motivation and energy to go through with it.
Also, if you're still depressed on medication it could be a sign that it's not working. With behavioral medications, finding the right one and the right dosage can be a bit trial-and-error, even now.
Yeah, I know someone who takes that, and she claims that she feels a like a mummy after.
Depressed how? It's a tranquilizer, it depresses (sedates-both mentally and physically) you. If you mean depressed as in sad, then no, it's not normal-it's possible but it's not normal and can be serious. You should tell your Dr right away. You shouldn't stop taking the xanax without talking to your Dr first though, as that can be dangerous as well.
You need to stop taking drugs to solve your problems. Just because a doctor gave it to you does not mean that it is safe. Xanax is incredibly addictive, and causes massive physical and mental dependency. Solve your head-case problems like a normal person does, get the fuck over it.
Do you not read the label? Did you not hear about the kid who shot up the school? Do you not watch the commercials? Are you illiterate? I smell a troll. READ THE STUPID LABEL!
Don't listen to the other posts, this is NOT a normal side effect!! It IS a possible side effect, and a VERY serious one!! Look it up on any RX site, it is an ABNORMAL and serious side effect!! You NEED to tell your doctor.
