Is it normal to feel completely trapped in your thoughts?

Is it normal to feel completely trapped in your thoughts to the extent that you can't face reality any more? I feel completely lost in my head and I can't stop daydreaming about the past and feeling ashamed and hopeless. I can't concentrate on the real world and I feel like I am deep in my thoughts and my never find a way out of my own psyche to be able to live a normal life.

I often relive embarrassing events in my life, even ones that didn't really happen (i was embarrassed by an idea I played out in my head). It's worst when I'm hung over.

I can tell fantasy from reality, I just find myself daydreaming uncontrollably and not even really aware that I'm doing it until I'm like 'oh yeah, I'm walking down the street' because I have been so lost in thought that I had sort of drifted off and get kind of surprised where I am when I come back to reality.

I feel the same way most of the time. Whether it's normal or not, I have no idea, but it's good to know I'm not the only one.

It is, I'm glad you commented. I think it a sign of depression but who knows?
