Is it normal to feel completely lost at work?
Ive been at my job for about 3 years and I do not feel competent at what I do. It is very frustrating and I do not know how much longer I can play it off as if I know what im doing.

have you had a performance review? Go by that if you have. Sometimes I feel stupid @ my job but my boss thinks I'm amazing..... so :)
:? That must be so embarassing. You haven't been fired yet so I guess you must be doing something righttt.
Its normal, I think. I used to work with this short fat kid who I couldn't stand. Probably the worst person I have ever had to work with in my life. He had no clue what he was doing, ever. (Not at all comparing you to him, I cant see anyone being as awful as he was). Well, now he is manager of the place...and he still has no clue what he is doing
I dont work there anymore, but hell, I bet that place whent straight down. God, I hate him.
That doesn't sound good. And I guess you can't really ask for help after three years without admitting your lack of understanding.
I don't know what your line of work is but could you ask for procedures to be documented? Pass it off as a best practises measure, or something, but then use it as a learning tool.
It's normal. Do you really think your so-called superiors know what they're doing? The answer is a resounding no. They got where they are through kissing ass, connections, and fraud. They delegate all their responsibilities to those below them.
Keep it up. You're perfect for management.
