Is it normal to feel bitter towards my ex after a year?

My ex of 6+ years and I had a NASTY breakup last year. I've since found a great person and when we're together, it's like my ex never existed. But when I'm by myself and left alone with my own thoughts, sometimes I think back to all the stupid, hurtful stuff my ex did/said to me, and how I wasted my time staying in it for so long and I feel anger towards it all. When the thoughts are really pervasive, I even stalk my ex's FB wall hoping to see something that indicates karma has bitten my ex in the butt. It's really hard for me to forgive and move on.

This says more about your vengeful nature and hating yourself for being so stupid. Let it go and whenever the ex's name comes into your head, do something so as not to dwell on it. You can't let the past eat you up, it makes you bitter - not better!

Try your best to move on and think about your new partner instead!

I voted normal. I do think it's normal, but it's unhealthy. Maybe you can seek help from a therapist?

I agree with joy bird:) Although I'm not exactly a great person to be giving advice on the subject, as I have the same problem as you haha!
I have always had a problem with holding on to grudges, and staying mad forEVER. I have done the Facebook stalk as well:p
But definitely try as hard as you can to let it go (believe me I know it's hard!) If you can, I think you should unfriend him on fb. Or else do NOT let yourself stalk him anymore:) Eventually you'll start to get over it. Good luck!
