Is it normal to feel bad when someone ignores you?

I am very sensitive to being ignored.
It's something I can not resist, when I wave at someone or call them and they do not respond(it's not always on purpose).
I take it too seriously, for example in class, I ask the teacher a question and he just keeps on talking or answers someone else's question. I get embarrassed.
You will find this extremely weird, but when a person actually ignores me after I said a joke or I asked him a question, I feel so bad, and I start looking around me to make sure nobody realized that I have been ignored. Also when someone gets ignored, I feel very bad for them and tend to answer their question so they won't feel embarrassed although they don't actually feel bad. AM I EVEN NORMAL? It hurts me most of the time, can I change the way I think?

it's such an emotional slap in the face when you open up to strangers and get a cold nothing-- no response, no facial expression, no indication that they knew you were there at all. It takes all my self-control not to yell at people when this happens (which of course would only make things worse, right? You're supposed to respond with indifference. Shame on you for caring.)

I am mostly the same way. I feel disrespected when I am ignored. Like the person feels that my existence isn't worth their time. I can actually end up developing hatred towards people who do this.

I feel you. Same thing for me too. It hurts the most when you thought that person loved you.

  • It never feels good.

Sometimes it hurts when certain people do it because you care about what they think of you.

Although, when you're ignored by someone who you don't like, it can make your blood boil.

Ignoring someone, especially without explanation, is a passive aggressive way to be rude to a person, to send a message that person isn't worth their time.

I hate being ignored. It's very irritating. It makes the veins in my neck pulse.

I'm the same way. This girl ignored me a lot, and started to again, and it kind of really fucked me up. Bad.

Of course, it's very rude to ignore someone, unless of course you're busy or the person is being bothersome. It hurts when your efforts to be nice are rejected huh? I feel ya.

  • Someone I know has started to ignore me so much compared to how they used to act with me, and it irritates me.

I abslutely hate people that cannot stay consistent with how they act or treat people. I don't care if they are a liar, an asshole, a nice person, or so on. If you are acting a certain way, keep that way.

Being ignored, whether it be intentional or not can feel like abandonment or rejection. I think your feelings are normal, however the intensity of those feelings might not be normal compared to what most people feel in the same situation.

Yes, of course it's normal in the society that we live in today. The response is important. Don't pay any attention to the person that ignored you for whatever he has to say for a period of time. If he's a guy, get him alone and tell him to go jack off. Maybe he'll get the point. If it's a gal. Tell her that she is really looking good and that you are impressed with her.

Of course its normal, ignoring is almost always very rude unless you have a valid reason for doing it such as to not have to bother with a negative person or you don't want to talk to someone who has caused you harm. Other than that, it isn't a nice thing to do at all and its a great way to reduce one's friend count.
