Theres a few things I feel weird having sex in these situations. i will just put them all as one post. When my girlfriend got pregnant I feel weird about having sex because I couldnt help but think that i was poking the baby. also I feel distracted if the animals such as the cat are around. It felt their just staring at us and it becomes awkward and I cant get aroused because their watching

    BTW I poked your girlfriend recently and now that she is not pregnant it was great. When she was knocked up she blew me a few times and it was good too. You should stay home more often.     The woman's body is designed to protect the baby from such things. No need to worry. And oh god, I can't tell you how many times my cat got kicked off the bed during sex. Usually by accident, unless he was trying to cuddle. It always impressed me when he would stubbornly stay there the whole time.

    Don't worry, you're not poking the baby. Well, not unless you're tremendously well-endowed. Although the weirdest thing I heard from a pregnant couple was that when she had an orgasm, the baby got excited and started jumping around.

    The animals thing I can understand. I don't mind being watched but one girl I went out with had a cat which used to groom her hair while we were at it. It felt uncomfortably close to a threesome.

      Actually the baby thing you heard about is not unusual.
      You have to remember the baby is well-connected with the mother, and an increase in heartbeat and chemical stimuli of the mother is also passed on to the baby, thanks to the umbilical cord.
      In a way, the baby takes part in a passive state and it's actually a threesome. That is, the tensing-up and the post-orgasmic bliss that she enjoys is passed on to the baby, too.

      As for poking it: Nah, thanks to the cervix and the positioning of stuff, unless your penis is shaped with a 90 degree bent in the middle, no amount of well-endowedness will cause you to poke your baby :)

      as for animals, i actually think it's fun. When i'm getting close and don't "control" myself, i start moaning, and my cats kind of take this as communication attempt, so especially if it's around food time, both of them will try and come close, meow and try to cuddle up. Sometimes, that is. Most of the time they will do nothing of the sort...but when it happens, i feel it more funny than "shocking".

        Yeah, that's what I was thinking; that the good chemicals get passed around, but I didn't know enough about the mother/baby interface to know for sure.

        It could be a bit weird to think of the baby's involvement but I guess if you just think of it as part of the mother's body...

          well, nature doesn't care much for our sense of privacy and modesty :)

          you could say that technically, we shouldn't even have sex once pregnant because the biological "purpose" has been achieved already, but well, we shouldn't have started having sex for joy at all, then.

          And well, if you ask nature, it's only natural that the baby shares all of what's happening to it's mother. That's sadness, being hungry, being happy, and also having had an orgasm :) It's a pretty damn normal thing and process, if you just look at the hard facts ^_^

          It's just some weird desire we have that wants to keep EVERYTHING remotely connected with sex as far away from our kids as somehow possible. I have to admit I never REALLY understood that. There's quite some manevouring space between children
          a.: not knowing about human reproduction/sex at all,
          b.: being aware that their parents have sex,
          and c.: having to stand next to the bed watching and take part occassionally.

          The healthy approach would seem to be close to b.:, to me personally. Our parents never rubbed it into our faces, but they didn't shy away from kissing, showing affection for each other, or fooling around a bit, and they didn't send us to our grandparents every time they went to the bedroom either. We KNEW they had sex and that was pretty damn normal to us. Heck, how would we have been made otherwise? That they did that just proved to us that their relationship was great and they still loved each other.

          *shrug*
          so ya, i will want children eventually and if i get pregnant, i'll gladly share everything with my baby and not think it to be weird somehow.

            At heart, that's exactly how I see it too. Sweeping it all under the carpet just causes people to have hang-ups about things that are natural throughout the animal world, not just the human world.

            I have to say, "nature doesn't care much for our sense of privacy and modesty" is the best-worded sentence I've read on IIN for quite a long time. I very much appreciated that.

            I guess it's easy to forget how natural sex should be because traditionally we've put all kinds of rules on who can do what to whom. Some of them are valid, to protect vulnerable people and we do live in a society that tries to temper nature's crueller sides. When you start putting rules on things, people are liable to question the validity of things more often. Which I think is perfectly fine to do as long as the answer to the question is a common sense one, like yours was. :)
