Is it normal to feel angry for no reason at completly random times?

I was standing at my fridge the other day and while I was holding the fridge door i had this urge to pull down the fridge. sometimes when i'm sitting in class i realy want to pick up my chair and throw it out the window. there are also times when o randomly want to punch someone or stand up in class and yell. there are times i want to repeatedly kick or hit things as well. I am easily able to refrain from doing these things, i opppse to violence that isn't a form of self defence and i'm normaly quiet and shy so this would totaly be out of character.

Like otehrs said it may be ebcause of your age. When I was a teenager , I felt like I got angry pretty easily but I learned later on to control my anger and not let things bother me.

I feel like this too. But very sporadically. An like PP, I have a mood disorder (not to be confussed with bipolar, or depression)

Atleast you are recognizing it. That's the first step. Please talk to someone and sort out what your feeling. I've been there.

Well who to say what's "normal"....anyway my opinion , yes. If u didn't reconize the extream anger I think that would call for therapy. I get angry. I've smashed the windows in my bf car several times. He pissed me off... I don't really know why I did that. I know it's not ok. Generally people with extream ups and downs are told they are bi-polar and handed a mood stabalizer. If frequent thought of hurting people animals children or anything of that sort I would seek help. Or anger management

Yes, I think so. We can be unaware of our reasons at the time. What was going on subconsciously before you went to the fridge to get food? Is the subconscious involved?

There's such a thing as violent OCD. I don't know much about it, but your mention of random urges reminded me of it.

There's also an autobiography I read that was written by an extremely intelligent (academically and emotionally) girl who semi-seriously told her counselor that she "went insane for a couple of hours at a time". Sudden anger, the urge to attack someone, anyone. Her life at the time was highly stressful.

I think you're OK. If the thoughts become more intrusive, or if you start to worry that you might act on them someday, talk to a counselor. Most schools offer counseling for free. I've been there, some of my friends have been there, almost everyone has been there at some point.

    Good luck!

I'm no doctor, but I will tell you that I've had the same urges. I got medical help and found out that I had a mood disorder that is treatable.
