Is it normal to fantasize about being generous?

I think this is probably something other people have done, but I'm curious...

Does anyone else ever spend a lot of time thinking about really generous things they would do if they had a huge amount of money?

I have a whole mental list of things I would do, from various waitresses and waiters at restaurants I go to, homeless people I see all the time, friends going through rough times, etc. to just randomly finding people on the street and handing them a $100 bill to see their reaction.

I'd also love to treat my friends to overseas trips and the like, but I think that's common - I'm more curious if other people want to just give money to random people they feel could use it.

I do. Is it normal?

I do it too. I think about taking homeless people out to dinners and wish I could take my friends to other countries. I just want to cheer people up. I do buy food for the homeless and spare change once in a while though. It's nice knowing there's people like you out there in the world, even if you just fantasize about it.

I'm poor, but on a fast track to becoming a psychiatrist which will make me an excess of 200k per year. I often think about the charities I will donate too, and being able to give a good amount of money to homeless people when I see them. The way I see it any money you make over 40k per year is just unneeded excess, and can be given away without loss to your quality of life. However it can greatly improve others quality of life.

Absolutely. And if you want to, you can always start small and give what you can, help out in whatever ways are possible for you.
