Is it normal to fall in love with your best friend?

I've known my friend Jessica since 6th grade and I've always thought she was beautiful. As we were growing up together I started to have stronger feelings toward her. There was actually a time when we didnt talk for a year or so and my heart was so broken that I would wake up crying if I had a dream of her. Now were young adults and I have a serious boyfriend but I still have a crush on her. Hanging out with her at college and texting her is enough to brighten my day. I would be willing to give her anything and desperately want to tell her I love her but cant because ....shes my friend. =( So....is this normal?
