Is it normal to fall for your 23 year old teacher if you're 17?

i'm 17, soon 18. i'm totally attracted to this awesome person I've known for a while. he's my teacher and he is 23.we talk , like, every single day. he texts me whenever he has some free time. we talk every night. he does say that he likes me but I've always taken it as a joke. but, i guess, now this joke is something that i would wanna turn into reality.he's 5 years older to me.
is it normal?

Reminds me of Aria and Ezra on pretty little liars... anyway I would not do anything if I were you even if you turn 18, I think the best would be to pursue something with him when he is no longer your teacher.

The age gap is ok, but as he's your teacher its likely to be in reality an unbalanced situation: He's in a position of authority and he is bound by a code of ethics that says he may not enter into any kind of relationship with you whilst he is teaching you.
I wonder if when you leave school/college...and move onto other things like work/uni...if you or he would still be interested?
Does he only like girls that are in school? Do you like older guys..?
If it is the real thing then I guess both of you would think it sensible not to ruin his career just for a few months/year.

If you like him and he's your teacher, no good can come from a relationship with him. Do you like him enough to get him fired and possibly banned from teaching?
    Shame on you.

If you really want to be with him you should wait until after you graduate, to avoid scandal.

It's normal. But it would be better for both if you wait until he's no longer your teacher. A relationship of this kind can be dangerous.
