Is it normal to fall asleep with your mouth open?

As long as i can remember i have always fell asleep with my mouth open resulting in a very dry and uncomfortable mouth the next morning. I know that if you sleep with an open mouth it is prone to all sorts of bacteria and other nasty stuff, but no matter how hard i try i can never seem to fall asleep with my mouth closed.

Is this normal?

  • Aren't you worried that bugs and flies might go inside your mouth?

I'd say it's normal. I have the same problem.

I only sleep with my mouth open when my nose is blocked up. Perhaps if you change your sleeping position so that the weight of your head is pushing your mouth closed? Or use a bandage around your head and under your chin?

I find it impossible to sleep and just breath through my nose.

I sleep with my mouth open when i have a blocked nose. On normal days also, i often sleep with my mouth open and end up covering the pillow and my face in drool. :D

just imagine all those spiders and bugs making a nest in your mouth at night time and then you swallow them in your sleep.

Ew I hate it when I sleep with my mouth open. It only happens when I'm sick though.
