Is it normal to fall asleep literally within seconds

Whenever my mom sits down to watch TV, she falls asleep. It's not a gradual dozing off either, one minute she'll be awake and talking, and literally within seconds she'll be fast asleep and snoring.

I don't think it's narcolepsy because she never falls asleep during daily activities. It only happens when she sits down.

It also happens when she goes to bed at night. My dad says that by the time I close the door after saying goodnight to them, she's already asleep.

My mom has a history of other sleep problems, including sleepwalking, sleep talking and sleep paralysis. She also works 40 hours a week and is in her 50s. Is she normal? (I'm worried about her)

Maybe her shows or your topic is mind numbing and her brain just says, "Fuck it. I'm out!" Lol!

  • @Thatguy777. I'm the same. I read IIN to fall asleep too. I take a long time to fall asleep. I usually also wake up on average 7 times a night.

Interesting. She should be in a sleep study.

  • It means she's sleep deprived.

I don't think that's normal but I envy her. I wish I could do that. I have trouble sleeping so...

My dad did the same thing. My mom and I used to joke that he had a sleep button on his butt.

Yeah, it's normal. She works 40 hours a week, it's probably stress. I do the same when i'm worn out from the gym or had a tough stressful week at college etc.

I think this is normal in most cases. Anyways, my grandpa does the same exact thing. He used to come over for dinner and at some point he would sit on our couch and within seconds he would be asleep. It was pretty funny.

Man I'm the opposite. It takes me forever to get to sleep. Right now I'm trying to get sleepy by reading IIN posts on my iPhone at 1:10 AM
