Is it normal to faint after receiving anaesthetic?

So I posted a story on here a few days ago asking about an irregular mole that I had, and after reading the comments, I decided that I needed to visit a doctor as soon as possible.

Anyway, I went to a doctor and he told me that I needed to have the mole removed, as well as another one close to it. The first thing he did was deliver about 5 shots of anaesthetic to the area. I felt really woozy afterwards and actually passed out for a few seconds. I also passed out again about five seconds later, for about two minutes. I was fine during the actual surgery, though.

I've never received that many injections in one go before, plus I've never really been good with needles and blood and stuff. Was my reaction to the injections normal, or am I just a wimp?

Getting local anesthetic does not cause fainting because it simply numbs that local area, as opposed to general anesthesia which is given via IV and enters the bloodstream. But you are completely normal for feeling yucky about needles/shots! I hate getting my blood taken!

Sounds like you could have a phobia of needles and the side-effects from the anesthetic probably are what caused you to faint.

I hope all is well after your procedure:)

Too much anaesthetic can of course cause you to lose consciousness, that's often the whole point. Your doctor should have given you enough dose based on your weight, so might have given you a little too much, or you might be particularly sensitive to the drug he gave you. But maybe the reaction was just because if the needle or because you might not have eaten etc etc. It's worth getting the name of the drug off your doctor in case you ever need to have it in the future.

Lol yeah you're a wimp. I had to get it on my eye! Did you just faint right after the doctor did it or did you stand up and pass out?

Well, you're not supposed to pass out after being injected with anesthetic lol. You might've fainted in reaction to it. Or you might just be a wimp and have fainted at the thought of being injected. It depends on the time interval. If you passed out like, three seconds after feeling the needle, the anesthetic couldn't be to blame because it has barely reached your blood stream.
