It can happen in any muscle. The tounge is a muscle.
I'd see a doctor if it didn't go away.
It is quite normal for various muscles to occasionally spasm
More than occasional is often indicative of lack of appropriate electrolytes, or other rare issues.
Get some Gator-aid (or equivalent).
Also, the most common missed electrolyte is potassium. In the salt section of larger grocery stores you can usually find "Lite salt" (low sodium salt) which is half normal salt (sodium chloride) and half potassium chloride. Start using that - and electrolyte balance issues tend to go away.
A half a teaspoon in a glass of water will often solve muscle cramps and spasms within about half an hour or so.
If its not electrolytes - and keeps occurring. See a Dr.
