Is it normal to expect people should wash their hands after peeing

While using toilets in public places I have observed many people don't bother washing their hands. I think this is very unhygienic and a disrespect to who ever they shake or hold hand with

I think those people should be exposed and shamed mercilessly!

good on you mate that is the best piece of sharing I have read on the subject of washing one's hands after a pee: I likewise was wee willie gently very regularly during the day I love my beautiful naked body with all the beautiful important and needed relevant parts so it is important I treat them with respect

I have wanted to shout out from time to time clean your dirty hands but too scared to do so: even though the have a sign up in most places most seem blind to them I wonder do females bother to wash their hands or is it only a male thing

This post reminds me of back in '06 when I used the bathrooms at work. Whenever I noticed that some people didn't wash their hands, I'd let out a huge obnoxious burp. If they got disgusted, I'd tell them something along the lines of: it's a lot less disgusting than not washing your hands after wiping your piss, shit, and period chunks. They'd have nothing to say after that. I was such an immature brat back then. Lol

good on you at least you had more courage than me I always want to make a point but too embarassed to tacle the filty lazy individuals a drop of water a rubbing of the hands and drying them only takes a minute

Well to do it properly takes longer than a minute actually, it's supposed to be approx as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday once.

A drop of water and a cursory rub won't make any difference to hygiene.

I live in Auckland. The climate here is similar to Hawaii, while the culture is similar to Britain.

I agree. It's interesting though, to watch folks who do wash in a public bathroom, then touch the door handle that so many who haven't washed, use.
That I certainly try to avoid.

That's why I hate having to touch the door handle at public bathrooms. I try to avoid it whenever possible too, but sometimes that's not possible. For those times I always carry around hand sanitizer with me. Why do some people have to be so disgusting?

oh a wonderful sharing I try to avoid if I can opening the door and handling the door knob I hesitate and wait for someone else to open it and walk out after them: A very logical conclusion and now you have me thinking should I get into the habit to carry a hand santizer Much thanks

In a number of societies (which we consider less civilized, by the way) they use one hand for their toilet and the other for eating, shaking hands, etc. That is the real punishment in cutting off a hand; they take the one that was for clean things, leaving the one handed person a pariah to their society.

I just don't ... think about it? I tend to use a LOT of paper so there's no way I get anything icky on my hands and when I accidently do I wash them xD

I think it really comes down to the Golden Rule, would you want other people to not wash there hands, and touch something you touched outside of the bathroom?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • fratom

yes, that is an insight that is very relevant to cleaning or washing hands after pissing: That sure is more disgusting to hear that men don't especially after doing either' After pissing not so bad but bad enough after the other two absolutely filty to return to your friends: friends tollerate alot of poor taste behaviour: The women can teach us alot in this area would you agree

I doubt if males are into carrying hand santizer around but then I am open to correction and to be educated in this area: the females bag well yes anything can be found in that I carry around two small cloth's one for washing my bottom after pooing the other for drying I shake my dick well and sometimes wipe it with tissue. A clean arse always for me maybe I should carry santizer too

While I agree that handwashing is basic hygiene, I would think that carrying a shit cloth around is a lot more disgusting and unhygenic than not washing your hands...

        • fratom

thanks: but that shit cloth is is basic hygiene for me as I make sure it is washed thoroughly by me on the the spot with antiseptic Disinfectant otherwise the point you make could be more disgusting: So I kill two birds with the one stone as to say: clean hands and and clean bum

So if you use a public toilet, you wash it in the sink there?

            I bet people love you.

I don't know ANYONE who carried hand sanitizer around with them - is this a US thing?

Every grocery store around me has it for public use. People use it on their shopping carts and the people working the cash registers all have some at their work station. I don't know if it is specifically a US paranoia but it certainly fuels antibiotic resistance.

I'm not saying one shouldn't wash their hands and be pro active about reducing their risk to exposure of germs, however most people don't know where the real risk lies. And any surface that the public uses with regularity will have germs, not just a toilet. And public transportation is probably the worst.

Still don't think it is an issue worth fretting over. This isn't how disease spreads. I bet the cash you carry has far more germs than a bathroom doorknob.

        • Ellenna

Well that's just not true: don't know about bathrooms but toilet doorknobs have heaps of germs on them, because so many people touch them to leave and didn't wash their hands after contact with shit and/or piss.

Germs on the dunny door would still be fairly fresh & therefore more dangerous than germs on money, wouldn't they?

"Freshness" of germs has nothing to do with anything. Germs are germs.

good point Germs left on the Dunny Door after people not washing their hands if one was ever so scrupleous one would use a tissue to open the door so it is a valid point people should wash their hands after shaking wee willie Thanks I don't intend to get a hang up on the point you are making

how right you are the coins we carry can have far more germs than we ever stop to imagine but cleaning our hands after peeing helps clean the germs from the coins too; would you not contend
