Is it normal to enjoy tripping once or twice a month?

Since about a year ago I was introduced to lsd, and I've loved it though many people/friends around me would probably consider me crazy or insane to trip as often as I did so I stopped for a while but since then I was forced to stop smoking pot and missed the occassional drift from reality and want to trip again but have been "warned" by multiple people (who have never tripped before or anything) saying I'm going to go insane. Needless to say I don't want to go insane but nor do I feel as though I will, but the last thing I want is to be blindsided by madness so-to-speak and would like to know if anyone has any stories to share for either side of the argument whether or not it is "safe" to trip on either lsd or mushrooms every now and then, like once a month.

  • Go and sell all of your belongings, buy all of the LSD you can find, and take it all at once.

I like taking trips to war places like Hawaii or Miami, I hate traveling to cold places like Detroit and Canada, not my cup of tea really :/

Lol this one time, at band camp, It was a long day of practicing, so I drank a little too much fruit punch at the campfire, and I was walking around and tripped on a root sticking out of the ground. I did not enjoy it. I almost had to go to the band camp clinic! I can't really see why you would like to trip and fall, so no. Not normal.

I ate a LOT of LSD when I was growing up. I mean a LOT! Way more than a couple of times per month. I still do it every now and then and I am fine. I now have two kids, am a Network admin, and make a very comfy living. Just be smart when using it and you will be fine.

So, when are you going to try to get to this state without the aid of drugs?

I had a friend commit suicide because he did this a few too many times. Yes, extreme.

I had another friend who went all self righteous and thought he was a spiritual guru because of the places he went while high. He failed to recognize that the he had the ability to get there without drugs and lost several friends in the process, not to mention brain cells.

You know the pros and cons. But do you know why you are doing it?

  • Don't do drugs. Did you ever go to school? Did you ever do Life Skills?

One of the main problems with street purchased LSD is the lack of a "table of contents". There are many additives in some LSD that can be harmful, including strychnine.
Mushrooms are much safer, especially if you pick them yourself. Go find a cow pasture and wander around in the early morning. Just be careful the farmer doesn't shoot you.
All the old LSD and shroom-heads that I know are still around and show no ill-effects from doing a lot of both products.

Well I could not answer whether or not you will "go crazy" because crazy is a socially designed label and whether or not you could receive it will depend largely on your lifestyle and who you associate with. However, I used to be similar tripping like every week or two and found that it DOES cause changes to your mind. Also, if you have a fear of "going nuts" from the drugs, your likely to experience a frightening trip at some point. Eventually (or not so eventually) from taking these sorts of drugs you will "go nuts" in some fashion. Maybe for you, it won't be a full blown talking to trees, getting naked, or whatever you picture insanity to be like but there is a good chance you will have some distressing effects from your psychedelic use at some point. If you don't want that, then stop your use of these substances. They give you powerful changes that can last a lifetime.

I ate acid too much 20 years ago on phish tour. Daily sometimes. Rollercoaster'd it some days. Bad idea. Took a few years to get right.

I've kind of been taking acid a little too often lately since I can't smoke and I don't enjoy drinking as I like an opened mind, not a closed one. I've been taking it every 1-3 weeks mainly every 2-3 though for the past 2 months. I'm fine, more enlightened, but fine.

I know what youre going through, I went through something awfully similar.
Just don't push your luck. I pushed mine and was blindsided by a bad trip that affected me for a few years, but in the words of William Blake, 'Nothing lasts... and nothing is lost.'
I can't tell you either way, take more or not... we all have our own paths to walk and if you find yourself one day on the dark side of the moon that was simply where you were meant to end up.
    Send me a postcard

I know of someone who took a trip and ended up in some weird state of psychosis or something. I'm not sure of the exact mental illness but it was the first time he used LSD and he is stuffed or life now.

thanks acidmak, that does help, more people please continue to comment on this please and thanks. gogoduece thats hilarious/sucks hahah. and howaminotmyself, i appreciate very much your feedback, that does mean a lot and would like to say i am terribly sorry for your friend, i feel like I am in a tough rut in my life right now mostly because I am in college taking 5 courses as well as working a parttime in between and i go to the gym regularly. Ill add to tt454 by saying yes I do have a lot of life skills, I am a learning mechanic that fixes up cars and mostly lawn mowers/weedwackers in the summer, I do my very best to maintain life skills as I also work in the summer as a handyman in my neighborhood town, so I feel like I can justify I am a fairly normal kid, I skateboard and play piano/trumpet/and am teaching myself guitar.

My concern was just will I one day lose all of my life skills or "degrade" so to speak, I feel acidmak has good feedback for this type of question because I am looking for people who have used and are much older and their experience on a long-term basis. I have my fun that's for sure but I have to admit the worry is in the back of my mind because I have yet to find much supporting evidence for any long term effects of lsd or mushrooms. i feel like theres too many people with inexperience who bash on these things. its true, howaminotmyself that people will experience things that make them feel like a guru or like a god, but sometimes this is best for the individual's life experience to bring them out of a previous mindset that made them feel less of a person or less of their capabilities.
