Is it normal to enjoy the sound of babies crying?

I know already this seems bad and sadistic but there's something about a baby's cry, about watching that small face slowly crinkle up with sadness and eventually burst into tears that really makes my day. Don't get me wrong, I would never want to physically hurt them/kill them/see anything seriously wrong happen to them, i just think it's kinda funny to hear an infant cry when something trivial happens, like they don't get the toy they want or they're hungry. I'm never going to be a mom, so you don't have to worry about it in that context. I do have a friend though who basically feels the same way, except maybe to a lesser extent. Anyone else?

no i do not think that that is normal. as human beings i believe that we are 'programed' to want to stop and fix whatever it is that is upseting the baby.

I know exactly how you feel. When I was younger, I used to pinch babies to make them cry. Now I prefer to put them under a bus.

I think the sound is annoying and sometimes sad, I don't know why you would ever want to see or hear that

i don't think it's normal to enjoy it. I have the opposite reaction (which is also not normal) it's not one of nurturing or concern, it's one of aggravation. I absolutely hate the sound of a baby or toddler crying. I don't care what they want, or what happened. I don't feel the need to comfort or soothe. the sound peirces through my skull like a steel spike. I do NOT babysit for that reason alone.

I think it's normal. I'm about the same way as you. I think it's kind of cute when they cry, but I wouldn't think it was cute if they were physically harmed. Them being frustrated to what we do as a simple task can be funny.

Um... No. Not really normal, bit as long as you don't hurt them to make them cry, I guess it's ok.
