Is it normal to enjoy food more when eating alone?

It's not that I don't like eating in company, but I'd prefer to have small, simple snacks and drinks rather than a really nice meal. Nice food seems a bit wasted, as I can't fully concentrate on the taste and chew it as much as I'd like when making conversation at the same time. IIN?

I'm sure most ppl are like this. I'm scared I'll accidentally spit, have something in my teeth or seem awkward but most people do.

I like to eat alone too sometimes. I guess it is what I'm most used too, but it also allows you to focus on the food more and really taste it.

I like to eat alone because I can be messy or make weird combinations with food. I don't know why I get pissed when someone watches me eat.

The best way to eat is in a quite, comfortable place with little stimulation and to chew thoroughly until the food has somewhat liquified in your mouth. If you do this, with or without people, trust me you'll be able to taste and enjoy your meal. You can't taste much until it's soft and squishy, or melted. So just take your time. America really screws up when it thinks meals should be quick.

I won't judge you while you eat but if your more comfortable alone it's ok :D

I hate going out for meals. I just want to satisfy my hunger (2 Weetabix would do) and just like you, nice food is wasted on me.

The romans used the verb "cumere" where we use the verb "to eat" but it literally means "to be together/with people" This was it's original meaning and with time the two meanings "to eat" and "to be with people" became interchangeable because they never ate alone and never got together without sharing food. Food really is better when you eat together! How nice it is to share a pizza with friends or have a picnic or sunday lunch or go out to dinner with someone. I'd rather go hungry than eat alone, but then everyone is different!
