Is it normal to enjoy drinking alone?

Don't get me wrong. I love to go out, drink, and meet new people. But occasionally, I like to drink by myself and write/play music. I just think it's really fun. Sometimes i'll write something really cool that I wouldn't have thought of sober. I worry if i'm developing a really bad habit sometimes. Is it normal?

I don't think there's a thing wrong with drinking alone. What makes drinking with people any better than being alone? Going out to drink can lead to all kinds of trouble. Not to mention having to be around people who are possibly quite annoying when drunk. It's expensive too.

Sound like Shane McGowen of the Pogues! Don't overdo it, though. If you want to know why...just google image him. *shudders*

Yeah. The picture of the Shane guy was pretty frightening.

There's nothing wrong with drinking alone. Just keep your eye on how often you do it and how much you drink. If either start creeping up and continue to creep up, then you may have a problem.

It was normal for me. I did it all day every day for six years.
I just got out of rehab last week.

Drinking alone might make you legally an alcoholic. But it has its advantages to. You'll stay out of trouble and for the most part, save money. Drinks in bars and restaurants are expensive these days.

You sound like a typical artist. I think it's pretty normal

Very normal, just make sure you don't overdo it. I tend to stay away from it altogether for the majority of the time because I can't handle knowing how many calories and sugar I've just gulped down.

I like it because it eliminates the chances of me saying something embarrassing (I tend to make an ass out of myself when I go out and drink). Plus when I curl up in front of the fireplace with a glass (or 5) of wine, I reflect on how I feel.

Drinking alone is the definition of an alcoholic.
