Is it normal to enjoy bgm's more than common music?

BGM: Background Music (like the ones you can hear playing in games) and also OST's (Original Soundtracks).

I enjoy listening those songs with no lyrics! is it normal? one time my teacher caught me listening to this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSIaxZARNtI

and made fun of me... but I think BGM's can tell much more than lyrics do! for example... that one tells me "eveything is going to be ok, if you fight for it!"

Am I normal for liking BGM's and OST's more than ordinary music? (of games, movies, etc)

Forgive me, but at first I thought that BGM stood for "Big Gay Music". I think its normal. I love video game and soundtrack music.

Any taste is "normal" I'd say, as taste is by definition subjective and varied. I love both vocal and instrumental music. There's good and bad points to each. Some game soundtracks are great, so great in fact, a non-gamer, such as myself, listens to the tracks! My brother often plays games, and I just sit and listen to the music or look at the art. Perhaps you might like classical orchestral music too?

It's probably because of the stuff you're watching in the foreground. You sick fuck.

I'd say its normal but it isn't widely accepted by people who don't play games unfortunately. This question is the story of my life though as I can't ever get enough of game music. The variety of music in games isn't even remotely matched by popular music and especially those with lyrics. Unless its something like Simple and Clean, I feel that lyrics get in the way sometimes.

The reason why people laugh is because they feel like game music is beneath common music but this is annoying because music is music regardless of where it came from. It was composed just like anything else and deserves attention too. Keep enjoying those soundtracks, OverClocked ReMix's site is proof that others do too.

I love instrumental and ambient music. I am often listening to various artists who produce great dark ambient music and I also love listening to soundtracks to games.
