Salt was at one time the most valuable item of trade on the planet. Humans can not survive without it. Eating salt in moderate quantities is not a bad thing, however it is presently thought that an excess of salt in one's diet is not good.
But hey, that could change tomorrow. Just look at the history of the egg, when viewed by dieticians.
I ate a lot of salt when I was younger... Then I found out it was bad for me!
Not normal but I do it too. Put excessive salt on my food and can enjoy eating it by itself.
Sometimes your body will crave things that it is deficient in but these days salt is rarely one of them. Salt is used in a lot of the food we eat today as a preservative and for the flavor so it is rare for your body to be lacking it. Do you crave any other electrolytes potassium magnesium calcium? Do you live in a hot climate or do work that causes you to sweat profusely could be another cause .
Table salt isn't all that healthy. There is a better salt for eating/cooking and that is Himalayan Pink Salt.
