Is it normal to eat like a skinny person but be fat?

I 45, 6', weighing 267. I was always a skinny female before age 30 and was a major chow hound. Now, after having a child, and as I get older eating has become a chore and I have to force myself to eat. My job requires a lot of heavy lifting so my arms and legs are muscular, but my mid section and face are fat. Diet programs like WW work but not without a overactive gag reflex to so much food. Been to many doctors and they just don't have a clue. Anyone else like this?

  • The fact that you eat so little is actually wrecking your metabolism and making it slower. This could be part of the problem (the weight). As for having to force yourself to eat I'm not sure what would cause this?

its strange because you say you don't eat much and also you have a job that's physically demanding .... your metabolism must be terrible

I jumped up from 114 to 119, and I'm in my 30s having changed nothing but where I live. I think the new york aggricultural industry is making people fat. I ate what I wanted except no grains (glutten based foods). Having changed nothing but my location, my weight is now 119. All my clothes are too tight. It's the growth hormones put in farm animals that are making Americans fat. I even think the organic food here is high in hormones. Nothing explains the weight gain. Eating organics for years kept me between 112-114. Within 20 days of arriving to NY, now the strange weight gain. Everywhere I look everyone is fat here. Humanity is a beautiful race, all colors and blends, but we were made to be beautiful, lean and strong, not blubbery. Greedy farmers and the FDA that lets them do whatever they want has destroyed that. It is evil. I don't want to be a vegan but I'll be darned if I end up looking like that when I'm older. Ugh, I love eating meat, and have cut down on it drastically. I will give up meat and dairy if I can't find a solution. They are even pumping salmon with growth hormone too, so, greed has made America fat and overall, puggly.

Perhaps the gag reflex is your body's way to tell you to starve yourself.

Did the docs do a blood test with a metabolic panel? Assuming they did, they would have been able to rule out the few medical conditions that cause abnormal weight gain, which are rare anyway. Sounds to me like normal mid-life changes. You could probably benefit from getting in some aerobic exercise - burns fat and speeds up metabolism.

You could be binge eating and starving yourself at other times which does jack up your metabolism . The thing is if your work is physical and you are actually
