Is it normal to eat food after it's fallen on the floor?

Here's the situation. It was early in the morning. I woke up, filled a pot with water and turned on the stove. As the stove was cooking I went to the bathroom to wash up. I then came back out and dressed up. I came back to the stove and I put my food in the water after it started boiling. The food finished and I put it in a plate. I then went to put it on the table and 70% of the plate's contents fell on the floor. I didn't have time to make another meal so I took the food of the floor and ate it. Is it alright if I did so?

    • Why would I wax my floors with my own feces? It sounds like you live in a birdca-- Oh, I see what you did there.

Early 90's? Shugga, I was saying dookie in the 70's and 80's. Dookie is standard; it's timeless.

When you were a kid and dropped food on the floor your mother would have said 1 of 2 things:
        1. If she was a retard mother she would of said "you can't eat food off the floor"

        2. If she had a brain she would have told you just to brush it off it will be fine.

If your an adult and have to ask this question on a website it makes you sound Chinese, people are 50/50 on 'should you eat food that's been dropped on the floor' so you can't decide for yourself because there's no "norm" so you don't know what you need to do to conform.

        • Norms are what the majority of people accept to be true. This is what this website was made to show. The opinion of the majority.

It's a simple thing that your supposed to learn as a child if you need to go on a web site to ask it your fucked! You could google it and you would find out exactly the amount of bacterial content would have increased on your food. Or you could just use some common fucking sense brush the food off and eat it.

    Depends on the food.
For exampple, if I dropped a cookie, or a chip on the floor, then I would eat it, but if it was like, cake, or soup, then no. It's strange how that works.

Also, the 5-second rule is a myth. Germs can get onto food instantly when it's dropped on the floor.
However, I'm sure everyone has eaten food off the floor at one point or another, and well, it never made me sick.

As far as dropping food on the floor is concerned if it's a potato chip I'll eat it if its beef stew I won't.
