Is it normal to eat dogs?

I've never eaten dogs, or cats, or anything like that, like many meat eaters I stick to beef, chicken, and pork mostly, but I've never understood the stigma behind other meats.
If you're concerned about the animal going extinct, or it being unhealthy to eat that makes since but why are so many people opposed to eating certain animals.

Is it normal to eat other meats? and if not then why?

In some places, yes. People are weirded out by things they aren't used to. Other countries eat animals that many people regard as pets, so that just seems wrong but to them it's totally normal. The US consumes oodles of cows but in some places they think we're crazy for doing it because cows are sacred. Perspective and culture, my friend.

It's no worse than eating any other animal, however in China they skin them alive, which is not normal. It's not the act of eating dogs that is objected to, but their callous and medieval ways.

I agree, eating a dog or cat is no worse than consuming cows or pigs.

From the scientific point of view, dog meats and cat meat are formed of proteins, collagens and element of fat, similar to pork, chicken and beef. The nutrition values are more or less the same. But eating dogs and cats is ethically wrong as they are human's friends. Why dont we eat human flesh? Similar ethical background

Good ol' double standard. People should either find the consumption of all animal meat wrong, or the consumption of all animal meat OK.

Nothing wrong with eating dogs or cats in itself. However, do note that in many places where dog and cat meat is consumed, there is a lot of corruption and cruelty behind the trade, usually since the industry is unregulated.

I think that people who complain about that and are not vegetarians... are full of prejudice and ignorance.

Some people think of dogs as superior because they are kept as pets. People have pigs and cows for pets sometimes, so any animal could be considered a pet. People eat horses in some parts of the world and to me, that is unthinkable, even more than eating cows, chickens, or pigs. So I avoid eating any animals.
