You get water in other ways than just through pure drinking water. Vegetables and fruit often have a lot of water content and you also get water through soup and other foods such as jello, pudding, ice cream, popsicles. Less healthy sources of water include soda pop, juice etc. Coffee and tea can also provide sources of water.
That's just made up by the bottled water industry. Of course you don't need to measure how much water you drink, your body is perfectly capable of knowing how much of it you need.
Sometimes, I only have two or three drinks for the day. Now that it's hot, I'm trying to drink a bit more. I know that I'm definitely not drinking 8 glasses a day, though.
I don't drink water at all.
Wait, maybe if I'm at the diner broke with cottonmouth, then I'll have a glass.
It's normal not to get that much water. Most people don't. However, it's healthy to drink 8 cups a day.
I know that I should at least get...7 cups but I can't. I cannot consume so much water in a day.
Methinks this number was generated by the clever clogs who probably used the average of a person's height/weight lifestyle etc... to get to 8 glasses.
Depending on your body I guess. But it is a good habit to get into as water can perk you up when your mind starts to drift.
Aim for 8 but 5-6 is probably more realistic.
I know it is healthier to get more water into my body. I am aware of the many health benefits. But I'm taking a bathroom break every hour if I try to get a healthier amount into my body and that is just annoying.
The whole water-hype is just another weird myth about health, there's no scientific evidence supporting the idea that drinking more water is beneficial in anyway (unless you really enjoy pissing a lot). Drinking too much water can actually be quite bad for you.
Bottom line - just drink when your thirsty and you'll be fine.
