Is it normal to drink by yourself in a bar and avoid people?

it's a bit of a paradox. i hate most people who hang out in bars as i find them obnoxious but i enjoy getting drunk in a bar and being extremely anti social while surrounding myself with said people. i also make it a habit to reject most people who attempt to make conversation, including good looking women (i derive a great sense of pleasure of blatantly rejecting women despite the fact that i like to have sex with them).

at the very least i don't do this all the time just nights when i'm in a particularly bad mood. for various reasons i'm not exactly a social butterfly even while drinking.

    At least you're out there actually surrounded by people, I tend to avoid people by not even going out. It's normal sometimes you just want to be by yourself doesn't mean you're socially inept, Human interaction is overrated anyway.

    I've worked in bars for many, many years and what you describe is normal. I mean, it's not too common but it's normal in the sense that there's always a certain percent of customers in any given bar who are similar. Does that make sense?

    Hah, blast from the past. This is proof that humans are social animals...many like to question it or outright deny it but whether you are 'social' or not you still learned and thrive off of human sociality. Look at feral children. Then tell us how you don't need socialization.

    I think we all need that sometimes..Just go, down a few (or many), and be left the hell alone.. I hang out with a few regular guys/customers every Friday night at my sports bar, but, have to say..Once in a while, it's nice to go in on an off-night, eat, maybe have a few drafts, and be by myself.
