first of all, you need some sound, objective advice from someone who also likes their booze.

    1. you're not an alcoholic
    2. you shouldn't listen to what people tell you

it sounds like you've just got a lot of freedom to do whatever you want, and you've decided to have a drink every night. i'm no moralist; i don't drink every night, but i do drink 2-3 times a week (especially now, in the summer). mind you, i am a girl, so it may seem a little strange. sometimes i can take more liquor than my date can.

i wouldn't give any advice other than: stop this if it's getting in the way of your social life or career (i.e. if you can't function properly because you're coming to work hungover every morning).

as for the liver thing, i'm really not sure. charles bukowski was an alcoholic until he was like 70, and he finally kicked the bucket as an old, old man. it's hard to say. not all cigarette smokers die of lung cancer!

The main thing is that doing this will surely fuck you up in some way.

Well, my grandpa starts drinking as soon as he gets out of bed. over half the glass is filled with vodka, then just the tiniest bit of water... Its sad knowing that he's drowning his liver every day. and plus he is a chain smoker.
Get help!!! I wouldn't want another poor person to get like my grandpa has gotten...it breaks my heart.
nobody can even convince him because he just gets so angry.

When you question your drinking it is likely a problem. When you try to control your drinking you are already out of control. Get some help with this because alcoholism only gets worse with time.

Sounds like you're an alcoholic unfortunately. You need to detox, not by yourself but with medical supervision. Theres no shame in it btw, booze can creep up on you easily.

your an alcoholic. get some fuck'n help before you die, or just kill yourself slowly (as you are) and continue to consume alcohol.

It doesn't make any difference if you drink alone or with others, the effects of the alcohol is the same. A half pint is 8 oz. and that's a lot of booze. If I were you, I would try to cut it in half, down to just 4 oz, by mixing the drinks weaker, or something like that. I've known people who drank like you do and their livers were ruined within 10 years, or less, their faces were all bloated and they looked really gross from all the booze.

Antacid might ease the pains a little, but it's not going to stop the damage. Why do you do it?

A year is quite a while actually, especially since this is a regular thing. This tells you a bit about the physical effects of alcohol: http://www.infoscotland.com/alcohol/displaypage.jsp?pContentID=59&p_applic=CCC&p_service=Content.show

i know someone who did exactly that, and the dying was long and slow and painful. he was in his early 30s when he finally died.

i don't know how long you've been drinking at this rate, but liver failure will be the LAST thing that much drinking will ruin for you.
