Is it normal to dream with your eyes open?

Sometimes I will "wake up" during the night, i'm able to look around the room, but I can't move at all. It's always the same dream, there is a man standing at the end of my bed, staring at me like he wants to hurt me. It's very frightening, and I can't speak, or move. Sometimes I can start to bend my knees a little or just enough to make myself wake up.

    It probably was a dream. I had a similar dream but a man was holding me down. 0.0 I still have them, and i feel like i am awake, but when he almost kills me, i wake up.
