Is it normal to dream so often, and why am i dreaming about rotting?

Like most children, I used to have loads of dreams, but as I've grown older, I've been having them less and less often. I'm fairly sure that this is normal. This last month however, I've been waking up with between 2 and 3 dreams every single night. They follow one of 3 main category's:

1) I'm with my friends. This is usually either me getting closer to a friend I hardly know, or me falling out with a friend I've had for years.

2) A kind of story. Normally in the Japanese anime style (crazy hair, over the top powers) and most have involved magic, death and swords. Some even have giants and weird creatures. While beatuiful to "watch" I've never had dreams like this before.

3) Me rotting, or mutating. Sometime's it'll be my arm hardening and growing bark. Sometimes it'll be mushrooms growing out of my arm. Whatever it is, it's always the most horrible and unnerving dream for me, and it's usually followed by me tearing off the skin to remove it.

So I kind of have 2 questions:
1) Is it normal to have dreams this often?
2) Can anyone shed any light on what they mean?

The above comment was excellent: Thanks. Let me give you a little food for thought. The actual meaning is up to you, but there are some guidelines (however generic) to help:

Look at your friends in the dreams as reflections of yourself. Notice the conflicts and the conviviality. What are the details? Ask these questions and apply them to yourself.....

The second portion. Hmmm....Interesting and raises my brow that there is a possibility that there is meaning:

    The pattern:

    Conflict

    Mystical experiences:

(represents the powers in your life that are greater than you. Some can be helpful....other's not so much....

    Resolution:

The dreams in which you notice the physical changes in you. And these physical images again represent more abstract qualities of your life.....Although strange, even revolting to you, dreams aren't always logical because they transcend logic...so, I know no answers per se but food for thought.

It's totally normal for some people to have common and vivid dreams. If you've recently started taking a new kind of medication, had a cold, had your hours changed at work and shifted your schedule or even got a new alarm clock, you'll notice a lot more vivid dreaming going on. If you've been really absorbed in games or movies, those can also permeate your dreams. (For instance, I had an awesome one last night that was set in the Seven Kingdoms and featured The Hound, and it's probably because I was reading "A Feast for Crows" the other day.)

As for what they mean, how you interpret your dreams matters more than what a guide tells you they mean. Dream meanings are highly personal. They may not even mean anything at all beyond "Hey, I've been watching a lot of anime and 'Walking Dead' episodes lately."

A better question might be: What do *you* think they mean? Your answer to that will give you more insight than any pre-fab dream analysis.
