Is it normal to dream about my girlfriend's dad dying every night?

    You can't control what you dream about, it's part of your subconscious. Maybe you should talk to your girlfriend about it.

    I have heard that bad things in dreams (death, losing someone/thing etc.) is supposed to be good, whilst happier things (weddings, parties, friends etc.) are meant to mean that something is subconsciously wrong, so I wouldn't stress too much. It's probably a good thing, showing you care about him.

    hahaha I do this all the time it's really strange :s I have nothing against my boyfriends parents they're pretty nice people I think it's just sometimes in my sleep I like to have them out of the picture so my boyfriends not worrying bout them/got responsibilities etc. But yeah I never actually picture them dying in my dreams they're just far away or dead or just out of the picture in general

    Dreams are powerful and can be unsettling.

    There could be a simple explanation to this, or there could be a more Freudian reason. For instance, most men have a subconscious need to be the dominant one. If she's still going by what her dad says, or living with him, your dreams could be reacting in a way that makes your subconscious feel more dominant.

    I wouldn't think too much into it. Just don't go killing him for real.

    I agree with Joybird. There must be a reason you for your dreams. Dreams pick up on our feelings so whatever reason he made you dislike him will be picked up by unconscious.

      But that's the thing though. I don't dislike him. He's a cool guy. Usually in my dreams, he dies of cancer, or he kills himself, so it's not like I'm doing it for my own enjoyment or anything.

          Hmm... Well, he is sort of older, and, I guess his home life does seem kind of depressing. I know he's content though. At least... I think he is.

          I guess this is something to consider.

    Don't tell your gf in case it happens and she will say that you are happy now that you got your wish.

      I don't dislike him at all. He's a really nice guy, and I respect him a lot. That's why it's so weird to me.

      And, I guess that's a good idea. I would look like a complete jerk for dreaming about it, and it actually happening.

        But... I having nothing against him.

        Well... actually, recently, I've begun to notice how terrible of a relationship my girlfriend has with her father. Never been to a father-daughter dance, never says "I love you", stuff like that. They barely talk, and don't get along at all. Maybe... that's why?
