My sister was my best friend until about a year ago she overdoced on pain medication. I cant stop thinking about her unless im high. I dont want to completely forget about her but i just want to relax and stop thinking of the sadness.

My sister did the same thing about 2 years and to this time if I think about it long enough I can go to a place in my head that I don't want to be. I started doing the same things n then I realized that it doesn't change what she did and I was going down a path where my heart was always in pain. It's not worth it I promise

First of all, sorry for your loss. It's understandable that you're sad, but there's a reason why drugs are illegal. If you keep it up you'll damage your body, and eventually die. Self-harm is never the answer. Just remember that she's in a better place, & remember the good times....

It's very normal, but you're not using the drugs for the right reasons. :/ it shouldn't be an emotional crutch, because you can become psychologically dependent on being high to feel ok.

  • its not normal. its not the right decision to get rid of your depression. once the effects from the drugs had gone, you'll feel the sadness again. it wont solve anything.

the better thing to do is try to talk about what you feel to someone, just spill it. you'll feel better. an move on, theres more to life. she has gone, theres nothing you can do to get her back into your life. everything happens for the best reasons. let her go and live your life. im sure she doesnt like seeing you being depressed besause of her.

It's not a good idea to self-medicate to cope with the loss of your sister. Have you considered seeing a therapist to talk about your sister and gain some closure?

It is normal. But it certainly isn't healthy. There are other ways and you should take to people about your issues too. Even your parents or friends will help you. Seek help (in the nicest way possible)

Drugs are illegal. STOP RIGHT NOW. Go see a shrink, and turn in all your drugs to the police. If you don't you will either be arrested (alot more painful than just handing over the drugs), or your health will deteriate, which will make you miserable. Please do not do drugs, and please don't smoke.

Uhh, if you hand over your drugs to the police in most places, you're getting hauled away and charged with possession. XD idk if it's different where you're from, but lots of US states have harsh laws on drug possession.
Plus he/she didn't tell us what kind of drugs they're doing.. You certainly can't compare cannabis to heroin, for example.

Yes this is completely normal, not saying that I do it but your not the only one that has. A lot of people do this. But its not actually a good idea. Doing drugs also causes you to lose memory, or just cause your to have a bad one, and you don't want to lose the memories that you had with your sister. I know it's hard on you, just try to find something other to do then take your loss out on drug. Like find a sport to play or a hobby or hangout with your friends. I hope this helps and I'm sorry about your loss. Just no your sister loves you and I'm sure she wouldn't want her passing to cause you to go to drugs. She's in a better place and will always be with you.

I'm so sorry to hear that.... it sounds really hard.. It's fine if it helps you to relax but just be very careful...Can you think of other things to remind you of your sister? Like things you used to do "happy times". I don't know what you are going threw but i will pray for you.... and i don't know your religion but if you ask God for some help on this believe and he will help you...
