Is it normal to dislike when people talk in the third person?

It gets on my nerves. Like when a mother is telling her child, "Mommy won't let the monsters get you," or a grandmother telling her grandson, "Grandma bought you a new baseball glove." I also used to know a little girl, Addie (not her real name) who would talk about herself in the third party. For example, if she was talking about how hungry she was, she would say, "Addie's really hungry and wants to eat some chocolate ice cream!" It just sounds babyish when people do that...like they're trying to be Elmo or something.

Its mainly ment for people talking to kids or kids talking to adults, but for it be be used in adult conversations then that person should be sat on fire.

Jennifer thinks if she spends too much more time on this website tonight that Jennifer may shoot herself in the head. Jennifer loves her life very much, however cannot resist the urge to contemplate self harm quite seriously every time she reads these silly questions.
Awwww Jenny loves you fozzy wozzzzy booboo bear. Keep up the good work.

It's ridiculous even to talk to a child like that!! No wonder some of them can't talk about themselves in the first person eg. I want to go to the toilet (when at school). If they say, "John wants to go to the toilet" and there are 5 kids called John the teacher is frantically trying to find which one it is.

    Bloody stupid at any age!!!

Yes. My 4 year old sister does it. I want to string her up by her toes and beat her with a baseball bat. Perhaps a little extreme, but it's normal to hate baby talk...

Can't say that I've noticed it much except for baby talk, and baby talk is meant to babyish.
